In chapter 10 there were some strong adjectives about the settings and it showed that the air was thin and mysterious. Ralph and Piggy did not want to become surreal1 with the fact that they witnessed Simon getting murdered at the feast. On page Ralph says to Piggy, " I'm frightened of us. I want to go home. Oh god, I want to go home." This quote jumped out at me while reading this chapter because it showed that even role model and leader out of the group of boys didn't know what they were going to turn in to. From about chapter 6 jack has started to show some lack of self and turned into a savage like leader that is insane. Jack became a horrifying apprehensive murderer showing his inner thoughts about how to live on an island filled with pigs, fruit and a group of boys that are going insane. When Ralph and Piggy were having this conversation that the quote showed up in, I realized that Piggy was not only trying to show Ralph that it wasn't so bad that Simon got murdered, but he was also trying to cope with the situation himself by going into denial and saying that it was okay that, that happened and they needed to just forget about it. When Ralph and his group got attacked by "The Reds" when they were sleeping, Piggy finally realized that he was in actual danger and something needed to happen.
